Airedale have been nurturing their nature knowledge and putting their DIY skills into practise at Weetwood Hall Conference Centre & Hotel this winter.
The children have tidied the hotel grounds as part of their environmental badge, conducted a nature and wildlife survey towards the cub ‘animal carer badge’ and have hand-crafted wooden bird boxes which have been installed by the cubs in the hotel grounds.
The partnership between 4th Airedale Cubs and Weetwood Hall was set up by Ian Patrick, owner of Sterling Joinery, a company that carries out various contracts for the hotel.
Lin Patrick, Cub Leader, said: “The cubs absolutely loved their time at Weetwood Hall – it provided a fantastic place for them to learn about nature and wildlife and we will definitely be returning next year to check on the new bird box residents. We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with the hotel and carrying out further activities with their support.”
Michael Longstaff, General Manager at Weetwood Hall said: “We are delighted that we could offer the cubs a place to learn more about nature and the environment and thoroughly enjoyed working with them. We are looking forward to any future activities and to supporting them all we can.”
