What do the Olympic city of Beijing - China, Leicester Square - London and Weetwood Hall - Leeds have in common?
In the latest MONOPOLY board game: Leeds edition, Weetwood Hall has acquired the same prestigious yellow property location as the Olympic city of Beijing did on the world edition and Leicester Square on the famous London edition.
The new Leeds edition came following extensive public consultation. The Monopoly board's promoter Graham Barnes says: "The game is a celebration of Leeds and we would like to thank everyone for their input."
The 2009 Leeds edition is the second that has been produced and is official and identical in spirit and shape to the traditional, bar the location spots. The colours, playing pieces, prices, rules and four corner squares, such as 'Go to Jail' and 'Pass Go', all remain.
Landmark locations on the board include Leeds United Football Club and Harewood House which landed on top 'Mayfair' spot. The four train spaces have become 'travel themes'.
Peter Chubb, General Manager of Weetwood Hall: "We are delighted that Weetwood Hall is one of the properties alongside other prestigious landmarks and companies. We also feel privileged to be supporting the 2012 Olympic spirit of Leeds by sharing the same property spot as Beijing the previous Olympic host."
