Team: England U18's Rugby Squad
In preparation for the 2009 U18's 6-Nations, the England U18 rugby squad selected Weetwood as their training venue. Residing at Weetwood Hall Hotel and training using the University of Leeds’ flagship outdoor site at the Weetwood Playing Fields, the players, coaches and support staff were provided with an environment conducive to elite level sport. Led by Head Coach and former Director of Rugby of Newcastle Falcons, John Fletcher, the group was able to combine training on the University's floodlit 3G Rubber Crumb pitch with conditioning and recovery work at the David Lloyd Leisure facilities just 1 mile from Weetwood. This perfect combination of 4-Star accommodation and top-class training facilities on the same site, combined with easy access to high quality fitness facilities and Leeds city centre provided a training camp that was fulfilling for players, coaches and support staff.
“Weetwood Hall Hotel and the University of Leeds is a fantastic venue for all sporting teams at all levels. The hotel accommodation, food and conference area are outstanding. All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Add this to the sporting facilities next door at Leeds University and it makes for a first class experience. We enjoyed our time at Weetwood Hall and Leeds University and have booked up for next season” John Fletcher, England Under 18 Head Coach.
