Find inspiration from 200 years of gardening in "Garden through Time" at the award winning Royal Horticultural Gardens near Harrogate. The gardens reflect the fashions and techniques used from the regency period to the present day. For an extra treat, do not miss coffee and cakes in the famous Betty's Tea Rooms next to the gardens.

There are over 100 acres of gardens at Harewood, filled with plants from all over the world. There is also the famous Bird Garden to enjoy, housing over 100 species including Penquins, Flamingos and Parrots.

Newby Hall & Gardens - http://www.newbyhall.com

Newby Hall's gardens were commissioned shortly after the hall was originally built in 1695 by the owner Sir Edward Blackett. In 2008 the garden was awarded the overall gold award by Yorkshire in Bloom.

Studley Royal Water Garden - http://www.fountainsabbey.org.uk

Studley Royal's beautifully sculptured Georgian water gardens are Yorkshire's first World Heritage Site. nearby is Fountain's Abbey, the largest abbey ruins in the country.

Other nearby gardens to enjoy include Parcevall Hall Gardens near Skipton and do not miss the Harrogate Flower Shows which take place in 2010 from 22nd - 25th April and 17th - 19th September.
