What’s on at Leeds First Direct Arena in the forthcoming months
There are many reasons to visit Leeds, but one of the biggest draws for many visitors are the gigs and music in Leeds – and it all happens at the Leeds First Direct Arena. There are, of course, lots of different venues to enjoy live music and events in Leeds, but the Arena, being one of the biggest and best, attracts the top names from around the world.
Music at the First Direct Arena this summer
Live music enthusiasts are in for a real treat this summer, with artists and bands such as Olly Murs (20th April), Pharrell Williams (12th June), John Legend (1st July), and exciting newcomer Ben Howard (23rd April) all headlining the Leeds Arena this summer. Between June and October, you can rock out with 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy and rock legends Fleetwood Mac, as well as enjoying the incredible voices of Bette Midler, Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – not all in one show, sadly, although that would be sensational!
Fans of 90s pop will also be thrilled to hear that the platinum-selling pop powerhouse S Club 7 have reformed and are performing a much-anticipated series of dates. Head to Leeds on 19th May to see their first arena tour in 10 years – aptly named the ‘Bring It All Back’ tour.
Comedy, magic and performance
While the Arena may be known for its headlining music acts, it’s also the setting for award-winning comedy, theatre and even shows by world-famous magicians. June 23rd – 27th sees none other than Mrs Brown’s Boys hit the road with a frantic and hilarious live show ‘How Now Mrs Brown Cow’. If your sides have stopped hurting by December, you can snap up tickets for one of the UK’s funniest comedians, Michael McIntyre, who is swinging by Leeds on the 10th and 11th.
This spring’s big treat is the Disney on Ice Magical Festival, featuring all your kids’ favourite characters and songs from across the Kingdom. Warning to parents – only book tickets if you can stand to hear ‘Let It Go’ again!
Just as excitingly, the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular is making a special stop in Leeds at the end of May – expect live music from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, big screen drama and specially edited sequences from the last 50 years of the phenomenally successful TV series.
Last but not least, prepare to be wowed and mystified in December when magician Dynamo hits the Leeds First Direct Arena for a homecoming Yorkshire show to finish his smash hit tour.
Make a weekend of it!
If you’ve snapped up tickets for one of this year’s biggest live events at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, why not make a weekend of it by booking yourself some accommodation? Weetwood Hall is just a short drive from both the Arena and Leeds city centre, and offers comfortable, modern rooms which also give you a taste of the ‘countryside’ aspect of Leeds.
Leeds may be known for attracting some of the best bands and music in Yorkshire, but it also offers shopping, fine dining, culture, history and a shedload of other fun family attractions – explore it all and more from your base camp at Weetwood Hall.
