Green Tourism Gold certificate

Weetwood Hall Conference Centre and Hotel in Leeds has been given the green light for its carbon footprint in an assessment by the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the leading sustainable tourism certification scheme in the UK.

This latest accreditation follows two other recognitions for Weetwood Hall this summer including retaining a Gold status by Investors in People for transforming business performance through people and gaining a Green status as a Compliant Venue, demonstrating its investment in training and the relevance of Weetwood Hall’s facilities to meetings and events for the healthcare sector, both the highest accreditation for each award.

The latest recognition comes from an assessment which covers a range of areas including; energy and water efficiency, waste management and biodiversity from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Weetwood Hall has once again come out on top achieving a Gold, the highest status in the assessment, stating the facility showed a clear commitment and enthusiasm to ensuring the hotel can become as environmentally sustainable as possible with excellent utilities monitoring and a separate food waste collection service, showing its on-going environmental management.

Michael Longstaff, General Manager at Weetwood Hall said: “This summer Weetwood Hall has continued to be recognised for the measures that have been put in place to make it a first class hotel and conference facility for both our guests and members of the team. The latest accreditation is fantastic as we work to ensure the hotel is as environmentally sustainable as possible and achieving Gold shows the measures we have put in place are up to industry standard.”
