Whilst some might view meetings as the bane of the corporate world, others see them as productive, engaging and even fun. Whatever your opinion is of meetings, we can’t deny they’re a necessary feature of the business world and for anyone who is running a meeting they will want it to be as effective as possible.

Of course meetings come in many shapes and sizes and depending on your goals and objectives, one meeting can be intrinsically different to the next. Two significantly different types of meetings are residential and daily meetings.

If you are planning on hosting a meeting in 2016 and are unsure whether to opt for a residential package or a daily one, take a look at some of the differences between the two and how one might cater for your purposes more proficiently than the other.

Residential meetings

Residential meetings typically include guests, colleagues and delegates staying in overnight accommodation. These types of meetings are often ran for at least 24 hours, but sometimes longer, spanning across two or even three days.

As well as accommodation, residential meeting require breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day.

Conventional meeting amenities are required for residential meetings, such as Wi-Fi, screens, data projectors, white boards, flip charts, amongst other essential meeting equipment.

Depending on the size and budget of the residential meeting, companies may want a dedicated conference team to meet and greet guests and provide assistance on the day.

Hotels that have conference facilities provide great venues for residential meetings due to the fact they have all the necessary conference services on their premises, as well as providing accommodation and catering requirements.

Weetwood Hall offers a 24 hour residential meetings package, which provides stylish accommodation, first-rate meeting facilities, free on-site parking, free Wi-Fiand quality food and drinks throughout the whole conference duration.

Residential meetings are ideal for large conferences that require a more comprehensive meeting duration that exceeds the typical eight hour working day. They are most commonly used for pooling large numbers of guests that typically come from different locations and require one central meeting place.

Daily meetings

Daily meetings are much shorter than residential meetings and don’t require any overnight accommodation. Though they can vary in length, ranging from one-hour meetings, to a half-day assembly, right through to a full-day conference.
