Millennium Square Summer Series

concert-336695_1280Leeds’ vibrant Millennium Square will come alive once more in the Millennium Square Summer Series, more than two weeks of incredible concerts, gigs and events. The Millennium Square Summer Series will start on Friday 22nd July 2016.

This heady mix of music, entertainment and fun will see the Parade Stage erected in Leeds large city square, in preparation for the annual Leeds Pride event taking place on Sunday 7th August.

This year’s Millennium Square Summer Series will see many well-known bands and acts head to Leeds to perform in this pulsating outdoor public space and live entertainment venue.

One Friday 22 July, The Cribs and Special guests will open the series. Since exploding onto the scene in 2002, The Cribs have released six albums and enjoyed countless tours and a multitude of awards.

Saturday 23 and Sunday 24th July will see the legendary Ocean Colour Scene take centre stage at the Millennium Square, in a concert that will mark the 20th anniversary of the iconic album, Moseley Shoals. Ocean Colour Scene’s special guests include an equally legendary line-up from the Britpop era, with Shed Seven, The Bluetones, Brighton Beach DJs and The Sherlocks, promising to mesmerise the crowd in Leeds City Centre.

Many other entertaining events are taking place during the Millennium Square Summer Series, including The Film House on the Square on Wednesday 27 – Friday 29 July, featuring a varied programme of blockbuster films for all ages, covering diverse genres, including sci-fi, musical and heroes.

On Sunday 31 July the VAMOS! Festival will head to Millennium Square. One of Britain’s longest-running community arts festivals, VAMOS! combines Latino, Lusophone and Hispanic cultures in a one-day family-friendly festival that is free for all to attend.

Motown fans are also in for a treat when the Magic of Motown Under the Stars comes to the Millennium Square on Friday 5th August, described as being the “biggest party of the year.” The Magic of Motown Under the Stars has been seen by more than one million people around the world, as glittering costumes, classic hits and incredible dance moves, will be set to wow the audience in Leeds this summer.

On Saturday 6th August, Millennium Square will welcome Summer Sounds Leeds with a string of huge names in rock and pop head to the stage, including The Hoosiers and Toploader.

The following day will see Leeds Pride take place, the tenth anniversary of Leeds lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual celebration. A number of special guests to help celebrate ten years of a thriving LGBT community in Leeds as well as Love, Equality, Sexuality and Gender across the world.
