A look at the Leeds Gin Festival

Are you a fan of gin? If so, you’re in for a real treat this summer as the Leeds Gin Festival is coming to town. From 18th to 19th July, the festival hits Leeds Town Hall for a gin extravaganza!

A celebration of juniper!

The Leeds Gin Festival is the largest of its kind in the UK, showcasing over 100 gins. Unless you’re a gin aficionado, you may not have even known that there were that many varieties to choose from! It’s a unique chance to sample gins in all its forms, on its own and in delicious summer cocktails, as well as adding to your knowledge of your favourite tipple and how it’s made.

The festival and it’s impressively stocked bars tour the country’s best venues every year, and this July – it’s heading to the magnificent Leeds Town Hall.

As the Leeds Town Hall is one of the larger venues on the tour, which visits everywhere from Norwich to Liverpool, Birmingham to Cardiff, there will also be lots of new and exciting additions to the festival. In fact, there is a lot more to the festival this year than simply sipping gin. Organisers have planned live entertainment, plenty of food, snacks and refreshments to nibble on and talks from experts from the gin industry, as well as fun interactive events and lots of brand new ideas.

For seasoned gin tasters, the Gin Festival is a great chance to meet and mingle with other gin lovers from all over the country. However, if you’re new to gin, you couldn’t ask for a better induction, as the friendly and knowledgeable staff (also gin fans) can guide you through the selection, providing expert recommendations to find your favourite variety.

Planning your gin adventure

Being one of the most popular festivals in Leeds (for obvious reasons), tickets for the event have already sold out. If you are lucky enough to have tickets for the Leeds Gin Festival make sure you have somewhere local to stay in the Leeds area. Once you’ve sampled your fill of gin, there’ll be no driving home – and the last thing you’ll want to do is suffer a ride home on public transport. Consider a stay at Weetwood Hall, less than 15 minutes’ drive from the Gin Festival at Leeds Town Hall. You’re heading into Leeds centre for a celebration of gin, so why not really make a weekend of it with an overnight stay at a 4-star manor house with its own woodlands and gardens? Go on, treat yourself!
